Intersex Day of Solidarity/Remembrance

Intersex Day of Remembrance, also called Intersex Day of Solidarity, is observed annually on November 8th to commemorate the birthday of Herculine Barbin, a French intersex person whose life and memoirs highlighted the harm of medical and social practices imposed on intersex people. The day calls for global solidarity and political action to end shame, secrecy, and unnecessary, non-consensual medical interventions like "corrective" surgeries on intersex individuals, particularly children.
