I wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you to everyone I had the privilege to work with as a lead of Pflag Durham Region. I was only one part of all that has been accomplished in the last 4 years to grow PflagDR's relationship with community partners, outreach to the community, and exponential growth in education and advocacy. Thank you to all the board members and volunteers who have put in hundreds of hours to stand at community booths, organize and execute online educational conferences, plan fun holiday and Pride events, and start new groups! Not enough can be said about all those who volunteer their time for Camp Rainbow Phoenix. As I step into new spaces of education and advocacy for the 2SLGBTQI community, I look forward to watching the new chapter lead, Sarah, grow PflagDR with the volunteers who will continue on and with new volunteers that have stepped forward to support the work of PflagDR. Sarah has been with PflagDR since 2014. She has facilitated our general open monthly meetings and the young adult group. She has acted as a Camp Director, mentor and has been generally involved in the annual planning of Camp Rainbow Phoenix. Sarah brings a plethora of lived experiences, both personally and professionally. Pflag is a part of me and I will continue to support Sarah and PflagDR in any way I can.
